Detailed Description

Main components: Ampicillin sodium
Properties: This product is a white or off-white powder or crystalline powder.
Pharmacological effects: Pharmacodynamics Ampicillin belongs to β-lactam antibiotics and has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. It is sensitive to penicillinase, so it is ineffective against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It has a strong effect on Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, Haemophilus, Brucella, and Pasteurella, but these bacteria are prone to developing drug resistance; it is not sensitive to Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Pharmacokinetics Ampicillin is rapidly absorbed after injection, with high blood drug concentrations, but it also decreases rapidly. The initial concentration after intramuscular or subcutaneous injection is lower. After intramuscular injection of 10 mg/kg, the blood drug concentration can reach 14.54 μg/ml in 5 minutes and reach the peak blood drug concentration of 18.46 μg/ml in 14 minutes. After intramuscular injection, the elimination half-life in horses is 1.21-2.23 hours, and the elimination half-life in water buffaloes, cattle, pigs, and dairy goats is 0.5-1.5 hours. After intravenous injection, the elimination half-life in horses, cattle, sheep, and dogs is 0.6-1.6 hours, so the elimination from the body is relatively fast. Probenecid can delay the excretion of this product, increase the blood drug concentration, and prolong the half-life.
Drug interactions: (1) Ampicillin sodium is contraindicated with the following drugs: erythromycin ethylsuccinate, erythromycin lactobionate, tetracycline hydrochloride, tetracycline hydrochloride, chlortetracycline hydrochloride, kanamycin sulfate, gentamicin sulfate, streptomycin sulfate, lincomycin hydrochloride, polymyxin B sulfate, calcium chloride, calcium gluconate, B vitamins, vitamin C, etc.
(2) This product can be used in combination with aminoglycosides to increase the concentration of the latter in the bacteria, showing a synergistic effect.
(3) Fast-acting bacteriostatic agents such as macrolides, tetracyclines, and aminoglycosides interfere with the bactericidal effect of this product and should not be used together.
Actions and uses: β-lactam antibiotics. Used for infections caused by bacteria sensitive to ampicillin.
Dosage and administration: Calculated as ampicillin. Intramuscular or intravenous injection: Single dose, 10-20 mg per kg of body weight for livestock. 2-3 times a day for 2-3 consecutive days.
Adverse reactions: This class of drugs can cause dose-independent allergic reactions, manifested as rash, fever, eosinophilia, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, anemia, lymphadenopathy, or systemic allergic reactions.
Precautions: Sensitive to penicillinase, not suitable for infections caused by penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
Withdrawal period: 6 days for cattle, 15 days for pigs; milk withdrawal period 48 hours.
